Juvenile Law

Approximately forty years ago, the United States Supreme Court first took note of the importance of court-appointed legal representation for children In Re:  Gault. The objectives of the Juvenile Law Committee are to assist counsel in upgrading their knowledge of lawyering for children. The Committee plans to provide information to assist its members in the following types of proceedings:  child protection, delinquency, abuse/neglect, custody/visitation and the involvement of the Department of Children and Families. The goal of this Committee is to assist the juvenile and family courts in providing to children and youth meaningful access to justice.
